A few words for the third exhibition on the website

August 2020

We are in the middle of Corona-disaster. Our daily life has been severed and sadlythis life in quarantine is now the new norm. And the most unbearable thing for me isthe lack of face-to-face communications with friends and relatives.

This Corona-disaster has changed lives not only in Japan, but also everywhere onEarth.

We hospital workers are taking extra careful measurements to protect ourselvesand patients by wearing PPE (Personal Protective Equipment) and sterilizing ourwork space. We are constantly under the threat of Corona infection.

This threat prevails everywhere. Even in our pottery class, less than usual membersare attending. Every member is wearing masks, talking less and refraining fromdrinking and eating in the classroom. This situation makes me feel isolated and a bitsad. Another depressing fact is that the 49th Hokkaido Pottery Exhibition which weresupposed to be held in July had been cancelled. I myself had to cancel the booking ofthe gallery, where I had planned to have the 3rd exhibition of my own.

It will take longer time than expected to ensure safety to go out and meet others. Therefore I plan to make my works public on the web. Two dimensional pictures arenot best suited to convey the material texture and the three dimensional volumes ofthe woks in the physical space. Hopefully in the sooner than later future, I get tosee all of you at the gallery and be able to show you the works.

Thank you for visiting the website. Please feel free to send me your comments.I wish your safety and happiness.
